Earlier in the year, I took a class from THDA (Tennessee Housing and Development Authority) on the first time home buyers tax credit.  Most of the information is easily located on their website; however, the information regarding Williamson County is harder to find.   I contacted THDA and asked where I find this information.  I’ve copied the paragraph for you below.  Because Williamson County in Tennessee, along with a few other counties, were declared disaster areas, then you do not have to be a 1st time home buyer in order to receive the $8,000 tax credit that has recently gone into effect.

"Presidentially Declared Disaster Areas

Section 3026 of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 permits proceeds of Mortgage Revenue Bonds to be used to make THDA mortgage loans in presidentially declared disaster areas within 2 years of the date of the declaration without regard to the first-time homebuyer requirement. The following Tennessee counties are included in current presidentially declared disaster areas and were not previously Targeted Areas: Benton, Lewis, Montgomery (all), Perry, Shelby (all), Sumner and Williamson. An applicant purchasing a home anywhere in these counties does not have to be a first-time homebuyer during the 2 year period beginning May 1, 2008, and ending January 1, 2010."

Hopes this helps.
